Women’s Health in El Paso

In addition to our general services, Transmountain Primary Care offers services tailored towards women’s health. We recognize that the needs of women are unique and that many clinics fall short of supporting those needs.

At our Horizon City clinic, we strive to fill in the gap of care for the women of West Texas, including our medical options, such as primary care services, cancer screenings, hormone replacement therapy, lab services, and more.

Importance of Women’s Health

Women’s health is an oft-forgotten but crucial aspect of our city’s health. Women make up more than half of El Paso’s population, but care and lab services for them fall woefully short. Women have unique health concerns and issues from birth to the geriatric age and need a clinic to provide those services.

We Offer The Following Women's Health Services:

  • Cervical cancer screenings (Pap and HPV testing)
  • Breast cancer screenings
  • Urinary tract infections
  • Vaginal infections (yeast infections, etc.)
  • Sexually transmitted diseases
  • Contraception/family planning
  • Uncomplicated menopause
  • Initial evaluation for menstrual disorders
  • Initial evaluation for pregnancy (i.e. pregnancy tests)

We participate in the Healthy Texas Women Program. Please note that while our El Paso primary care physician staff can confirm pregnancies and treat pregnant patients for issues not directly related to the pregnancy, we cannot manage the pregnancy itself. Pregnancies should be handled by an OBGYN. For example, we can treat a pregnant patient for a sore throat, but we cannot perform an ultrasound to check how the baby is coming along. Female patients with complex conditions will likewise be referred to a specialist.

Preparing for a Visit

If you are preparing for a visit, be sure to bring all your relevant information to your primary care physician at Transmountain. The more information that we have, the better informed we can be when developing a treatment plan.

Depending on your treatment/procedure, there may be special instructions to follow. Prior to your visit, you should receive detailed instructions on what to do and wear before coming into the clinic.
